- Anti-interference communications
Wireless communications systems enable people to be better connected and reachable over the space-time limitation. Nevertheless, the frequency resources are very limited, and their full utilization inevitably faces interference problems. Nowadays advanced communication systems such as LTE Advanced, Wi-Fi, and Mobile WiMAX technologies for cellular networks suffer from inter-cell interference yet expected to offer enhanced capacity; therefore, robust signal design along with stringent interference aliment and mitigation, coordinate resource allocation and scheduling are the essential technologies for the future cellular systems.
- Relay-based communications
The cooperative communication is one of the super-hot research issues in communication fields and industries, as it provides numerous advantages such as extended coverage as well as enhanced data rate with better SNR beyond hardware limitations in size, battery, and costs. The research issues include network coding, relay selection strategy as well as cooperative/virtual MIMO techniques.
- Channel modeling for mobile wireless communications
Wireless channel is a physical transmission medium that lies between two communication terminals and it determines the quality of the signal at the receiver and eventually limits the performance of communication systems. Knowing its statistical fading properties through mathematical modeling and analysis as well as channel measurement are therefore of great importance for reliable wireless communication system design, development, and their realistic performance evaluation. The cutting-edge communication technologies are now more complex than traditional cellular networks, and todays channel modeling theories face new challenges as they are required to be more accurate yet universal with increasing dynamics, link heterogeneity, and signal dimensions.
